The United Methodist Men
For the past thirty years, the men of the church have been an active group of the National United Methodist Men's Fellowship and a vital force within our church and community. They meet the Third Sunday Morning of every Month at 8:00 a.m. and are treated to a delicious breakfast, prepared on a rotating basis by members of their group.
The purpose of the United Methodist Men is to involve men in worship and mission and to enhance their prayer and understanding of discipleship.
They have participated in the Atlanta-Decatur-Oxford District Men's Fellowship, the North Georgia Annual Conference of United Methodist Men and have sent some of their members to the National Conference of the United Methodist Men's Fellowship at Perdue University, Indiana.
Over the past, some of the service projects have included: Food for Russia Program, helping to build a Habitat for Humanity House in East Atlanta, the Open Hand Project in West Virginia, and Financial support to missionaries in France, Mexico and Central America, and Operation Christmas in our own area as well as numerous projects around the church.
For the past several years, the UMM have sponsored two barbeques per year: One in the fall and the other in the spring. These events which also include a tremendous Flea Market and Bake Sale allow the church an even greater ability to be in ministry to the community. Without saying, these events have become an annual highlight for the surrounding area. |
